MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE SOUTH NEWTON AND STOFORD PARISH COUNCIL
HELD IN THE VILLAGE HALL on Wednesday September 3rd 2008 at 7.30P.M.

The Minutes of the Meeting of July 30th 2008 were agreed and signed as correct.
4. MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES
a) Play area waste bins not yet replaced. Clerk to follow up with Environmental Amenities and
Sarah Dennis.
b) The Clerk will arrange for someone from the council to meet with either the Chairman or Don
Fardell to discuss the requirement of replacement road signs.

d. Rights of Way –Bonham Bridge footpath has been partially cleared – the Wilton Estate suggest
the clerk contact the Byways dept for further maintenance. Clerk to action.
e. Environmental Amenities – The Clerk will apply for a waste compactor for Saturday 15th
November.
f. South Newton Website –
g. A36 maintenance – the Clerk will check back again with Colin Gimblett and get an update on
any proposed road repair planning. It was reported that many of the drain covers areas were
notably uneven.
8. FINANCE
Payment to Clerk £112.—9. VILLAGE HALL – The application from the Village Hall for the new playground installation has been fully supported by the Parish Council and development is awaited with interest.

11. COUNCILLORS’ REPORTS
Cllr Fardell reported that there will now be a morning 9.00am bus service No 2 from Jubilee Terrace to Salisbury centre. This will be commencing mid-October. Cllr Barry reported that the new bus stops outside Glenside Manor Nursing Home are in place and are being used regularly. Cllr Small handed over the keys to the notice board at Stoford to Cllr Green who will now post minutes and notices. The Chairman proposed to invite a representative from the County Council to the next meeting to explain the proposals for the new Parish area arrangements for County representation and how the changes will effect the structure and responsibilities of Parish Councils. The Clerk will communicate with Trowbridge and issue notices to invite the public to the next meeting to ensure the community is aware of what effects the changes in the authorities and local ruling bodies will bring. Cllr Barry seconded this proposal. The Clerk to action.NEXT MEETING
The next meeting of the Parish Council is in the Main Village Hall on Wednesday October 1st at 7.30pm.
